So here’s a (probably somewhat familiar) scenario:
A board member brings a grant announcement to the quarterly board meeting. It looks pretty good and seems to complement your organization’s strategic plan. The money is definitely in the right ballpark, and everyone gets excited about it and agrees that you (as the Executive Director or Development Director) should pursue it.

Grant budgets tend to not get a lot of love. Often grant professionals break into a cold sweat or get a migraine or go into a nervous panic at the very mention of the words “grant budget.” Budgets can seem quite daunting if you have never done one before.

Hi, everyone. It’s Valentine’s Day, so time to revive #nonprofitpickuplines (One of my favorites, from a colleague: “Did you forget to file your Form 990? Cause you got FINE written all over you.”)
Recently, I discovered that a couple of my ED friends write romance novels on the side. It made me realize that we have so few books set in the nonprofit sector, and certainly romance is no exception. Our sector, with all its volatility and interesting characters, would make an excellent setting for steamy tales.
